The Economist Intelligence Unit’s Public Policy Consulting team in Dubai is looking for an experienced Senior Account Manager to lead and grow its business across the Middle East. This role combines business development and consultant skills at a senior level. As a Senior Account Manager, she/he will leverage their existing relationships within the public and private sectors and experience in selling consulting services in order to win new business and grow existing accounts. She/he will also work closely with consultants to deliver impactful, evidence-based programs that support client goals in policy advocacy, thought leadership, and internal decision-making. The ideal candidate will have relevant consulting and business development experience in the GCC, particularly the UAE and KSA markets, and a deep understanding of public policy issues.


How you will contribute:


Serve as the key client contact for the office in Dubai; develop yearly strategic/tactical plans for new and existing accounts; identify opportunities for organic growth; maintain client relationships; independently manage accounts;
Provide leadership in growing existing accounts; identify, qualify and pursue opportunities for developing new business; participate in new business process, including serving as a member of the pitch team, delivering strong analyses, strategy and concepts to new programs, and completing other duties as necessary;
Act in a project oversight capacity on key projects, including leading kick-off calls, chairing advisory panel meetings, and signing off on key client deliverables to ensure our work meets or exceeds client expectations;
Anticipate and develop solutions to client needs and problems; identify policy issues facing clients and conceptualise solutions that EIU can deliver;
Develop strategic partnerships with relevant external organizations and experts to facilitate opportunity growth.

The Ideal skills for this role are:

Relevant degree in Business, Economics, International Relations or related subject
Masters degree in related field desirable
Minimum of 5 years' prior work experience in consulting and business development
Significant experience developing own book of consulting business, including new and complex sales, in the region
Strong working relationships with regional corporations, non-profits, consulting firms and/or public relations firms that can be leveraged to develop consulting opportunities
The ability to manage multiple opportunities at different stages of development and effectively move thru the pipeline to achieve short, mid and long term sales targets.
Significant client management experience
Significant project management experience
Experience dealing with and presenting to senior-level executives
Good understanding of international business, politics and policy issues
Fluency in English and Arabic
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Comfortable and articulate with both clients and colleagues
Confidence and diplomatic skills to handle unfamiliar topics and difficult clients
Mature, enthusiastic self-starter with the discernment to balance commercial considerations with high standards of editorial integrity and analytical capability
Thorough awareness of the Economist Intelligence Unit’s brand values, notably editorial independence
