IT PMO Manager - Technology - Financial Services
Our client is looking for a proven IT PMO Manager to help manage the project environment for one of the key financial services institutions technology department. IT PMO manager oversees the portfolio of projects. The goal of the IT PMO manager is to maximize the value that can be created through the creation of an optimal mix of IT investments that balance both risk and reward. The successful candidate will be responsible for influencing the business to make decisions on which projects to undertake. The IT PMO Manager will head the project management office and track in-progress projects to elevate risks and issues and would have the authority to flag projects mid-way if they are not forecasted to achieve the value they originally promised, potentially leading to them getting stopped.
The successful candidate will have the ability to monitor the status of all projects and measure which projects are going well. Gauge the risk of going over budget or being delivered late. In addition, identify opportunities to combine similar projects across the company to reduce redundant investments. Ensure the right allocation of the right amount of funds towards priority capabilities such that are in line with the strategy. In addition, ensure the right allocation of budget across different business functions. Responsible for publishing Financial report of IT Portfolio to Business Finance community. Make sure that the bank is rightfully resourced to deliver on the projects that have been undertaken. Also, ensure that the right resources are assigned to projects so that they can be delivered successfully. Help identify in demand roles across organization to help for future capacity planning. Identify key metrics such as cost to maintain applications, the total lifetime cost of applications etc. Also identify which applications are reaching end of life and need to be replaced. Provide input in to discussions regarding technology decision on which enabling tools will be used to manage the project portfolio. Procurement initiation and resource billing (Contract and project).
Applicants must have a proven track record managing PMO environment for minimum 4 years, within a financial services environment. Must have the ability to manage key stakeholders. Ability to take ownership of the PMO group and ensure delivery of key projects. Degree education is necessary.
To summaries the candidates must HAVE as minimum:
· Portfolio management skills
· Tangible experience of managing budgets – because a lot of CAPEX /Operating spend will come through your department.
