The Role

Bloomberg Digital is seeking a seasoned editor to oversee Bloomberg's daily digital news output in the Middle East. This individual will manage breaking news and a regionally focused homepage for Bloomberg.com, as well as create and commission original digital content. The goal is to provide a lens on the global business world from the perspective of what's most important to a Middle Eastern audience.

When markets move, companies merge, governments collapse or start-ups succeed beyond everybody's wildest expectations, Bloomberg reporters and analysts are there. We're looking for an editor who understands how to amplify stories across social and mobile platforms. This requires speedy and constant collaboration with regional Bloomberg News reporting and editing teams and a clear understanding of the consumer business news audience in your region.

This individual will be expected to commission, write, produce and edit a range of content, including timely but short breaking news articles, mobile-friendly daily news digests and socially driven business stories. This team will work confidently with stories told via short- and longer-form video, data visualisations, charts and interactive storytelling.

Key responsibilities:
Selecting stories from the Bloomberg Terminal, as well as those produced by website teams, to appear on the section front
Writing daily content in the form of news stubs and/or morning briefing notes
Knowing all major upcoming breaking news and enterprise stories relevant to the region
Writing compelling web-friendly headlines to promote stories to the target audiences
Understanding real-time and periodic web traffic analytics and tuning content selection accordingly
Ensuring stories have appropriate photography assigned to them, sourcing new imagery when needed from media teams
Liaising with digital video and TV heads to ensure upcoming interviews and packages are promoted in region
Being on daily and weekly calls with bureau chiefs, team leaders and reporters to facilitate the above
Coordinating with editors of U.S., Europe and Asia homepages to maintain consistency across major breaking news events
